Spam (69)

When a ready made title like that appears in your Gmail whatcha gonna do?! Sham 69 was among the vinyl that I lost in my travels. Johnny Rotten didn't think much of them and, in a guest review spot for the NME ('I use the NME..'), he snorted "Shame of 69 more like" though I always thought it was a blunted retort since a 'sham' is hardly a thing of delight.

The Australian Opposition

Alternative leaders

When compiling this list, I couldn't include the first Opposition Leader, even though he served two terms in this capacity, from 1901 to 1904, and again from 1905 to 1908 ,as he also took turns at the bat. George Reid became Prime Minister.

Dictum

The way to live your life well really can be reduced to obeying the maxim of 'doing unto others as you would have them do unto you'. This doesn't mean organising food parcels. It does mean that if there is something for which you have a shared responsibility, know enough to exercise that.

I like a clean environment so I put my rubbish in the bin. I like to see out the window so I don't scratch my name in the glass. I like to sit down without getting marks on my clothes so I don't write on the seat. I choose how my wall and my fence will be painted so I don't tag.
I dislike second-hand doof-doof so I check the volume and adjust it accordingly.
Smoking is a choice so, even if I did smoke tobacco, I would never sit down next to someone eating their lunch and light up. They might not like smoke with their sandwich. They might be asthmatic.
I like to feel safe so I don't rob or rape or attack people.

See how easy it is.

from private secretary to Secretary General

How many people in this Commonwealth know who the Secretary-General is?

Of the five Secretarys-General that there have been, the first Arnold Smith, has died but the others are still kicking; just not in charge of a disparate remnant of Empire any more.
